We weren’t originally sure whether to add the excellent busaba to our site, but decided that it should be here on account of always providing well balanced, good value Thai cuisine. A perfect green curry is very hard to find. We like the Bird Street branch best. Not recommended if you don’t like communal tables.

Mango Tree serves up consistently good quality Thai food. We keep coming back to it when we have a craving for nicely balanced flavours and lots of dishes to choose from. The restaurant is quite busy and gets very loud, mainly because everyone is seated closely together in a huge open space. Mango Tree is definitely worth a visit for the food and the good service. The fish curry, crispy pork belly, and aubergine and potato curries are all delicious.

This little Thai is situated right on the river and has a beautiful interior with warm colours and oriental furnishings. It also has a lovely terrace where locals congregate for drinks on sunny days. We have been at this place three times, once for the weekend buffet lunch and twice for dinner. The buffet was poor, we wouldn’t recommend it. Our first dinner visit was excellent. We dined outside and had a selection of classics – green papaya salad, pad thai, green curry and sea bass – and they were all lovely and balanced. The second time however, the food was completely different and not up to the same standard. Having been disappointed twice out of three times, I think we will only be coming back for drinks and snacks on the terrace. www.thaiontheriver.com
