We went to Roux at Parliament Square during London restaurant week 2010 and experienced some of the best service we have ever had. We took advantage of a set menu offer - three courses for £30 – so we can’t really comment on the whole menu and pricing. The food we did have (magic worked with jerusalem artichokes, mackerel, lamb and a host of unbelievable flavour tricks) was fantastic as we would have expected. The restaurant feels a little bit like having dinner in someone’s (very posh) front room, but the overall experience is so full of positives that any concerns are quickly forgotten.

Birthday dinner at the penthouse restaurant in Park Lane was tasty, predictably posh and accompanied by astonishing views of London. The food was beautiful apart from a mediocre cheese cake dessert. Service was impeccable, but way too attentive for us to have a relaxing meal.

A bit of a trip away from the very centre, but very much worth it. Chez Bruce served up the best food we have had in a long time – delicious mackerel, beet salad, pumpkin soup, tender beef, amazing fish main courses and perfect panna cotta and sorbets. Chez Bruce offers a fixed price menu at £40 per person and if you don’t mind the price tag or you’re splashing out for a special occasion, we warmly recommend dining here. Helpful staff and very good wine recommendations starting at £20. www.chezbruce.co.uk
